H for Hope and How to keep going

H is for Hope and how to keep going

Since starting in business I have never felt so many different emotions in the same day!

  • Hope when going to a networking meeting, that people will be friendly and supportive
  •  Hope that a new client is on the horizon as the bank balance is looking a little sad!
  •  Hope that you will soon understand the software that you are struggling with (whatever that may be)?
  •  Hope that you will be able to help someone and feel great!
  •  Hope that your latest invoice will be paid on time

  • Hope that your printer won't run out of ink when you really need to print something urgently.

How to keep going?

I guess we all have different ways to cope with this...

I give myself a really hard time when the going gets tough and and then when things improve (which they usually do) I wonder why???  I need to find a better way and so all tips gratefully received.

I practice Mindfulness when I remember and make sure I go to a class at least once a month.  I find the Mindfulness Walk the easiest as we all have to walk somewhere most days and it's so easy to do.

I read for half an hour every night as a bit of escapism and to wind down in the hope that I won't wake up at 4am thinking about work!

I try to remember how far I have come and what I have achieved each and every day - even if it's just getting a bank to reconcile - yes we bookkeepers get a little excited over this!

I attend regular networking events and reach out for support from others.  I am very lucky that I also belong to the amazing Bookkeepers Alliance which is a membership organisation for bookkeepers (it does what it says on the tin!) where we all support each other with meet-ups and a safe place to ask questions and get advice.

What do you all do to keep hope alive and keep going?

I hope that you all have someone or a group that you can get support from and if not get in touch and maybe we can help each other.

Thanks for reading my blog and I would love to hear from you.

Maggie
