B for Beginning in Business
When I started I was working part time as an employee and also trying to get my business off the ground - very exhausting
It took a huge 'leap of faith' to go it alone but here I am a few weeks in and although exhausting I am still keeping the faith
As a new business it's amazing how many different hats you need to wear. That's where my many previous roles have helped me so much.
Designing Business Cards and other marketing materials - could get so carried away with lovely things but must keep to Budget!
- Facebook Page, Twitter Page
- Creating a Website (never knew how to do that before)
- Writing a Blog (or this!)
Networking (something I hated in my employed roles but actually enjoy much more now)
- Business Breakfasts (yum yum)
- Ladies who Latte Networking (mmm hot chocolate)
- So many Facebook groups to join and share ideas with
Things I miss about working in an 'office' are:
- colleagues to chat to and laugh with
- someone to bounce ideas off
- turning off from work at 5pm
Things I love about working at home:
- not having to commute
- slobbing around in pyjamas if I want (don't tell anyone!)
- spending time with my dogs (although they don't really understand bank reconciliation and why I dance around the kitchen when I get the big tick!)
That's about it for how it is for me as a business at the very beginning.
How did you start out?
What did you find difficult at the beginning of your journey?
Please comment and let's help each other
Maggie
It's good to hear your story and people just don't realise how many hats a new business owner has to wear! The time will come though when some things will be better to be delegated and affordable. keep the faith!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Roland.
DeleteGood luck with the new venture. Is there really time for any work amidst all those yummy networking meetings?
ReplyDeleteThete is at the moment but hopefully I will soon be too busy.
